OUTINGS
Kennedy; interprets the Dealey Plaza National Historic Land-
mark District and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza; and
presents contemporary culture within the context of presidential
history. Saturday evening will be on your own for dinner.
Sunday morning we go to Pioneer Park, second only to Dealey
Plaza as the most-visited landmark in downtown Dallas. The
site features native plants and trees and a flowing stream in a
natural setting and a bronze re-creation of a cattle drive with
longhorn steers being driven by three cowboys on horses. The
bronze art was created by artist Robert Summers of Glen Rose.
Our final stopwill be the GeorgeW. Bush Library, the repository
for presidential gifts and other donated artifacts relating to the life
and career of President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush.
Ticket cost includes transportation, hotel, entrance fees and
lunch at Southfork Ranch.

Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg - NEW!
Saturday October 4, $40 pp
Depart COWAN CREEK 8:30 a.m.; Return 7 p.m.
Come along to one of the country’s
premier Oktoberfest events, an annual tradi-
tion held around the world. Join in a colorful,
festive celebration of Fredericksburg’s German
heritage. Oktoberfest is a community event of
family entertainment featuring three stages of continuous oom-
pahmusic, arts and crafts, a German Bier Tent, an Oktoberfest
Vineyard area, delicious food and lots of cold drinks.
After arriving, you will have the day to enjoy live music, dance,
and sample great food and drink. Please plan on having break-
fast before we leave or bring your own snacks and coffee to enjoy
on the bus. Lunch is on your own, and we will leave the festival
promptly at 5 p.m. to return to Sun City. Ticket cost includes
transportation, driver’s tip, and admission ticket.

Howdy, Folks! Welcome to the State
Fair! We are headed back to one of the nation’s
largest attractions and to see the new and im-
provedBig Tex. With somuch to see—livestock
shows, the famous butter sculpture, arts and
crafts galore, two buildings full of everymodel of car imaginable,
and live entertainment on many stages—you will have plenty
to do. The Tower Pavilion boasts food and more food along with
outside vendors—a grand total of 200 food vendors. The Texas

Hall of State has special exhibits and a beautiful art deco interior.
This is an outdoor event with walking and standing. Wear com-
fortable shoes; bring a hat, sunscreen and water. We will make
a stop on the way and coming home.

Rimsky-Korsakov’s
Scheherazade
. Video, excerpts, and narra-
tion combine to illuminate this exotic musical portrait of master
storyteller Scheherazade. Gain insight into the historical context,
Rimsky-Korsakov’s inspiration and more in the program’s first
half. Then hear
Scheherazade
in a whole new light as the ASO
gives a full performance in the program’s second half.
We will begin our evening at the acclaimed Austin restaurant,
Carmelo’s. After a refreshing salad, the entrée will be a combina-
tion of lasagna, tortellini with cream sauce, and rigatoni with
meatballs, followed by a luscious dessert. Soft drink, coffee, tea
are included. Then it is off to the Long Center for the performance
preceded by the always enjoyable and informative pre-concert
talk. Ticket cost includes transportation, dinner, and concert.
