Bocktober in Shiner and Painted Church
with lunch at Werner’s - NEW!
Wednesday, October 29, $40 pp
Depart SCPL 8:15 a.m; Return 6:30 p.m.
What better way to celebrate
October than touring a brewery! However, there
is more to this trip! We will first pick up our
guide and go to the spectacularly painted Sts.
Cyril andMethodius Church. Almost 100 years
after its dedication, the church is still known as one of the most
eye-catching landmarks in South Central Texas. Its beauty is
enhanced by six stained glass windows and a huge mural of
Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane.
After our church visit, we will have a buffet lunch at Werner’s,
well known for its good food and wide selection. You definitely
won’t leave hungry!
Finally, it’s off to Spoetzl Brewery, maker of Shiner Bock Beer
and the second oldest and last independent brewery in Texas.
After the tour, youwill be invited to the hospitality suite for some
sampling of the wares. What could be better than that?
If time remains, we will possibly tour the historical part of Shiner
or visit the Wolter Museum, which pays tribute to the pioneers
of the area.
Ticket cost includes transportation, lunch, and guided tours.
