partment, you will receive a card to fill out and turn in at the Moni-
tor’s desk. We will draw a card monthly and the lucky winner will

Hunting & Fishing Club Swap Meet - NEW!

Residents are invited to participate in a swap
meet at the monthly meeting of the Hunting
& Fishing Club. This not a pure swap meet,
as items will be offered for sale or swap. Bring
your hunting, fishing, camping or outdoor gear
and be prepared to trade―or just come by and look for bargains!

Learn Beginning Beading - NEW!

Interested in learning how to make your own
jewelry? Well, here’s your chance! A special
two-session class on Beginning Beading will be
offered to all residents on Tuesdays, September
10 and 17 from 1-4 p.m. The first session will
teach participants how to create a necklace,
and the second session will involve making earrings. Class size
is limited, so sign up in the Fabric & Fiber Studio today! The $5
cost for both sessions is payable at the first session on September

Classical Guitarist Thales Smith
Wednesday, September 11, 6 p.m., LHPP, $5 pp
Thales Smith took first prize at the Guitar
Foundation of America’s International Youth
Competition in 2006 and the American String
Teachers Association’s National Solo Competi-
tion Junior Guitar Division in 2009. In 2008,
he was named a Texas Young Master by the
Texas Commission on the Arts and Texas Cultural Trust and
was consequently awarded a three-summer scholarship to fur-
ther his study of the classical guitar. That same year, guitarist
and composer Mark Anthony Cruz dedicated to Thales his piece
Triptych No. 2
. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy classical music
before sunset. Only 120 tickets will be sold for this event.

win the dance contests. Beautiful ladies will model traditional
Sock Hop attire in the Sock Hop parade. Come and dance the
night away with Greg Hoffman, the same DJ who played your
favorite sock-hop tunes in 2012.
