The Wildlife Management Committee will conduct the 2013 Sun
City Texas Deer Census September 16-18. In case of inclement
weather, September 19-20 are scheduled as make-up days. The
initial meeting will be held on Monday, September 16 in the Ac-
tivities Center Atrium starting at 6 p.m. for a brief orientation
followed by the first night of counting. Counting will commence
at 6:45 p.m. each night. After the count concludes each evening,
the CA will provide ice cream for all volunteers.
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
Volunteer sign-up sheets will be available Friday, September
6 through Tuesday, September 10 at the Monitor’s Desk in the
Social Center lobby and online. If you sign up in person, please
print legibly your name, email address and phone number. Ad-
ditional information requested will be whether or not you are a
golfer, whether you are willing to provide and drive a golf cart or
be a counter, and if you are willing to walk a trail. Newcomers
are very welcome and encouraged to participate.
VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS
We will need 60-70 volunteers this year because additional routes
have been scheduled for recently completed neighborhoods. For
the golf course routes, we will need 12 golfers with six (6) golf
carts; 25-30 counters, half with golf carts, are needed for the
neighborhood routes. In addition, 12 walkers are needed for the
six (6) trail routes.
All route assignments will be determined by random drawing,
with priority given to the earliest sign-up date. Preference will
also be given to those volunteers available to work all three
nights. Volunteers will be notified by email and asked to verify
their availability. Spouses and friends will not be paired together.
