OUTINGS
The Fantasticks – Fredericksburg
Sunday August 10, $50 pp
Depart SCPL 9:15 a.m.; Return 7 p.m.
Known for their “Off Broadway
Excellence in the Charm of the Hill County,”
The Fredericksburg Theater Company pres-
ents
The Fantasticks
, the world’s longest-
running musical.
The Fantasticks
is the story of two neighboring fathers who trick
their children, Luisa andMatt, into falling in love by pretending
to feud. The fathers hire traveling actors to stage amock abduc-
tion, so that Matt can heroically seem to save Luisa, ending the
supposed feud. When the children discover the deception, they
reject the arranged love match and separate. Each then gains
disillusioning experiences in the real world, seen in fantasy
sequences. They return to each other bruised but enlightened
and they renew their vows with more maturity.
A small, intimate theater that seats 450, you will be treated
to large, comfortable leather chairs for a close-up and personal
performance by some of Fredericksburgs’ best actors and sing-
ers. Drinks and snacks will be available for a small donation.
There will be plenty of time for browsing and lunch before the
matinee. Afterwards, we will stop at Wildseed Farms for treats
and eats—maybe a glass of your favorite brew in the Bluebon-
net Biergarten. Come along, it’s going to be a ‘fantastic’ day in
Fredericksburg.
Ticket cost includes transportation and matinee.

Vista rock rapids, where you can choose to exit or go further and
‘shoot’ the three-tiered rapids for added chill and thrill! The float
trip takes approximately one to one and a half hours depending
on the flow of the river. Shuttles run every 20 minutes, return-
ing to the starting point for restrooms, snack bar and gift shop;
if time allows, you may float again.
Before hitting the river, we will tour Dick’s Classic CarMuseum
and have an indoor picnic lunch. Dick’s is a climate-controlled
