F
ourth of July means hot dogs,
parades, fireworks and fun. Here
in Sun City Texas, we are lucky
enough to celebrate on July 3 with our
annual festivities, and on July 4 for a day
of celebratory rest or out and about with
family and friends. While you plan your
activities for July 3 and 4, keep these
community events in mind!
SUN CITY’S JULY 3
Each year, Sun City Texas hosts a 4th
of July celebration a day or two before
the Fourth of July. This year it will be
on Wednesday, July 3 and will include
a range of activities, from parades to an
egg toss, even a birthday party for Uncle
Sam (complete with cake!). The birthday
party kicks off the celebration at 8:30
a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Plaza,
and is followed by the Pooch Parade
that begins at 9 a.m. Pets are donned
in patriotic garb and, after being shown
off by their owner, are judged for “Most
Patriotic Pooch.” Immediately after the
Pooch Parade is the People Parade. The
Georgettes begin the parade, in which
whole neighborhoods, clubs and groups
decorate golf carts and dress up, even
handing out candy and beads. At 11 a.m.,
you can then go listen to the wonderful
voices of the Sun City Singers in their
“Proud to be an American” concert. If
you have the grandkids with you, why
not take them to the Kids’ Egg Toss at
the Koi Pond at 11 a.m.? Finally, grab a
lunch of street tacos or hot dogs at 11:30
a.m. on the Social Center Patio. All in
all, it will be a fun-filled morning to show
off Sun City Texas’ patriotism (not to
mention creativity!). For more informa-
tion about the parade routes or times,
see page 15 in the Events section.

hometown parade. The day begins at
10 a.m. and concludes around 10 p.m.
with a fireworks finale. Admission is
free. For more information, visit www.

JULY FOURTH FRONTIER DAYS

Round Rock will celebrate with Frontier
Days in Old Settlers Park. Festivities
include a parade, carnival rides, a jalape-
no pepper eating contest, a rubber duck
race, skydivers, a fireworks show, and a
showing in the park of Captain America.
There will also be a Sam Bass Shootout,
food and arts vendors, and live music and

popular 1812 Overture. Although the

until 8:30 p.m., food and arts vendors
