Kerrville Museum and Winery
Tuesday, April 29, $85 pp
Depart SCPL 8 a.m.; Return 8:30 p.m.
We’re off to Kerrville, a vi-
brant community and the capital of the Texas
Hill Country. Lunch will be at Billy Gene’s
Restaurant on the Guadalupe River. The good
food, friendly service and beautiful atmosphere
provide the flavors of the Texas Hill Country. Entrpe choices are
Chicken Fried Steak or Old Fashioned Meatloaf. Meal includes
side salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, non-alcoholic beverage
of your choice and banana pudding. Tax and tip included.
After lunch, we will spend two hours at theMuseum of Western
Art, where the legend of the AmericanWest lives on. The cowboys,
Native Americans, settlers, the mountain men and others who
tamed theWest share their adventure through rotating exhibits.
The museum is a showcase for Western art and artists, past
and present, and provides art and history education for all ages,
focusing on the American West.
A trip to the Hill Country would not be complete without a wine
tasting. At the Kerrville Hills Winery, we will sample four of
their fine wines. Before returning to Sun City, we will stop in
Fredericksburg at the Auslander Restaurant and Biergarten to
enjoy a Reuben Sandwich (corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss
andmayo on grilled pumpernickel). The sandwich is served with
potato pancakes, a non-alcoholic beverage and apple strudel.
Ticket cost includes transportation, lunch, museum admission,
wine tasting and dinner.

Evita
– Majestic in San Antonio
Wednesday, April 30, $77 pp

Evita
concentrates on the life of Argentine political
leader Eva Peron, the second wife of Argen-
tine president Juan Peron. The story follows
Evita’s early life, rise to power, charity work
and eventual death. The musical began as a rock opera concept
in 1976 but changed a year later to a more traditional musical.
Its success then led to productions in London and on Broadway,
where it was the first British musical to receive a Tony Award
for Best Musical.
Dinner will be on your own at River CenterMall on the Riverwalk
inSanAntonio. An assortment of restaurants await your pleasure
²MarioMia, Luciano’s, Chili’s, Hooters and Tony Roma’s or you
may dine at the mall food court and do a little window shopping.
Note: There are steps down to theRiverwalk and theMall
the world. It features the Aontas Choir, championship Irish danc-
ers, bagpipers, drums, and the unforgettable angelic voices of
Celtic Woman. This musical performance will be take place at
the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, an elaborate old movie
theater that has been restored to its heyday and is now one of
the premier sightseeing destinations in the city.
We will have a brief rest stop on the way at Buc-ee’s in SanMar-
cos. We will then travel to the picturesque San Antonio River
Walk for two hours of on-your-own time to have dinner and/or
walk around and enjoy an endless supply of shops, cafes, bars,
hotels, and even a shoppingmall. After exploring the RiverWalk,
we will meet at the Majestic. The event begins at 7 p.m., so we
must be at the theater no later than 6:30 p.m.
Note: There are steps down to the RiverWalk, and there
is walking reTuired from the River Walk to the theater
venue.

Briscoe and Brew – San Antonio
Wednesday, April 23, $36 pp
Depart SCPL 8 a.m.; Return 5:45 p.m.
The BriscoeWesternArtMuseum
recently opened on the Riverwalk in San Anto-
nio. Mixing vintage and contemporary paint-
ing, photography, and sculpture with historic
artifacts, this museum offers an experience as
romantic and diverse as theWest itself. Whether it’s the full-scale
Wells Fargo stagecoach or Pancho Villa’s last known saddle, the
gallery devoted to women of theWest or themodernist murals of
Wild Horses, you are sure to feel some Texas pride as you stroll
through these halls.
The River Center Mall is our lunch stop today. A wide array of
eateries will be yours for lunch on your own ² from quick-bite
meals in the food court to table service restaurants along the river.
After lunch, be prepared to “wet your whistle” at The Ranger
Creek Brewstillery, a combination beer brewery and whiskey
distillery, by-golly! These spirits are made by hand ² one batch
at a time – allowing Ranger Creek Brewmasters to do things
with their product that no one else does, like age the beer in the
bourbon barrels or distill the beer into whiskeys. Our tour will
include some fascinating history, a stroll thru the workings of the
brewstillery, a pint glass, three generous samples and a Texas
