Before the tour, wewill sit at the overlook and enjoy boxed lunches
fromWhich Wich. Lunch options: 1) turkey sandwich with pro-
volone cheese on wheat bread, 2) tomato and avocado sandwich
onwheat bread, 3) roast beef sandwichwith provolone cheese on
white bread. All boxes include chips, cookie, and bottle of water.
After lunch, we will divide into two groups and get into open-air
tour vehicles with our guides. Be prepared to experience ostriches
investigating you and giraffe necks bending over you. We will
get so close to the animals that we will be able to feed them from
the provided bags of animal-friendly food.
Notes: Remember to bring hats, sunscreen, and your
camera! Ticket purchase deadline is May 6.

This Mother’s Day weekend, let yourself
be swept away into a sublime world of kings,
queens, fairy godmothers and storybook crea-
tures. The timeless tale of The Sleeping Beauty
comes to life in the most majestic classical bal-
let of all time, set to Tchaikovsky’s fabulous and familiar score.
Center mezzanine seats will grant you a spectacular view of this
gorgeous production featuring grand sets and exquisite costumes.
You will enjoy special appearances by fairy tale favorites like
Puss-in-Boots and Little Red Riding Hood. And of course we
can’t forget the kiss from the handsome prince – the kiss that
will create a memory to cherish happily ever after.
Following ourmatinee, wewill make a dinner stop at TheDomain
where a fine array of restaurants await your selection—Gourmet
Pizzas, Asian Fusion, Austin-styled Mexican, American Bistro
or Northern Italian—it’s a palate of wonderful treats.

San Antonio Zoo with
Dinner at Paloma Blanca – NEW!

We are off to one of the best zoos
in the country! The renowned San Antonio zoo
has receivedmany commendations acknowledg-
ing its excellence in helping endangered species,
and it was one of the first cage-less zoos in the
U.S. It is home to over 9,000 animals and 750 species. Your ticket
includes general admission to the zoo, and you may choose to
add to the experience on your own with a ride on the train or a
visit to the butterfly exhibit ² and we know youwill want to feed
the lorries. (Beware! These colorful little birds will keep coming
back to you for more nectar! They will also perch on your arms
and shoulders while you feed them.) With over 35 public acres
to explore, be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
After our zoo visit, there’s no place better than Paloma Blanca
for a relaxing dinner. We will all have chips and salsa, salads,
and tres leche cake, plus your entrée. Entrée options (to be se-
lected with ticket purchase): chicken enchiladas, beef fajitas, or
vegetable chile relleno.
If you have a smart phone, go to the website of the zoo and down-
load the SAzoo-AR app (found under General Information tab).
This will allow you to get extra information when you come to
animals that have a special icon in their viewing area.

Kimbell Art Museum / Renzo Piano Pavilion;
Japanese Samurai Exhibit – Ft. Worth – NEW!
Wednesday, May 14, $35 pp

We are headed to Fort Worth to
see the newest andmost elaborate art pavilion
in the country. The $135 million Renzo Piano
Pavilion doubles the Louis .ahn masterpiece
and adds another landmark to the already
fabulous Cultural District in Fort Worth. The rave reviews site
such features as the southern columns that line up with the sun,
the complex canopy system and the glazed window wall in the
South Gallery.
See the first exhibit in the newpavilion—100 remarkable objects
from the culture and pageantry of the feared Japanese samurai
warriors. This exhibit showcases the evolution, the appearance
and the equipment through the centuries of this elite group of
men. Among the highlights are the lacquered metal helmets
adornedwith emblems inspired by nature. Combat-ready samurai
in full regalia will be shown in suits of intricately crafted armor
and much more. It will be a day not to be missed.
On the way to Fort Worth, we will have a rest stop in West at
the famous kolache shop. And on the way home, we will make a
fast-food stop in Waco.
Note: Youwill be on your feet touring themuseumalong
with some steps and walking to and from the galleries.
