Austin Blues” – has been playing the blues right and cleans-
ing souls from the east side of Austin to stages around the
world for over 40 years. He’s been mentoring young blues and
soul players for almost as long. Blues stars from Stevie Ray
and Jimmie Vaughan to Angela Strehli to Lou Ann Barton
to Marcia Ball have all perfected their craft under Clark’s
tutelage. Clark’s mix of modern Texas blues, searing guitar
and heartfelt, Memphis-style soul vocals have made him a
favorite of blues and R&B fans alike.
Cooking Demo by Chef Nikki
Friday, May 10, 11 a.m. – noon, CCF/g, $15 pp
Chef Nikki Eljkjer will teach “Healthy Cook-
ing.” She will demonstrate the preparation
of two entrees with sides:
• Avocado and Citrus Salad tossed in a Ci-
lantro Lime Vinaigrette with Pulled Chicken
• Roast Pork Tenderloin with Brussel Sprouts and Crisp Apple
Risotto.
Each attendee will receive a tasting of one of the above pre-
pared items and the recipes on how to prepare both entrees.
Forty (40) spaces are available for this class.
Hunting & Fishing Club’s 13th Annual Fish
Fry and Silent Auction
Saturday, May 11, 5 p.m., SCB
The Sun City Texas Hunting and Fishing
Club will sponsor their 13th annual Fish
Fry and Silent Auction on Saturday, May 11
in the Social Center Ballroom. There will be
door prizes, a fantastic catfish dinner with
all trimmings as well as several hundred items available for
bid in the silent auction. Cash or personal checks will be ac-
cepted from successful bidders, no credit cards. For tickets
contact Dave Berry at 512-240-4167 or William Rogers at
512-943-0907. Tickets are $20 each or $200 for a table of 10
people. They will go fast so, so get yours early!
Band of the Hills
Sunday, May 12, 3 p.m., SCB, $5 pp
open seating - Theater Style**
Treat mom and the family to a Mother’s
Day concert! A Sun City favorite, Band of
the Hills is a wind and percussion ensemble
composed of musicians from Cedar Park,
Leander, Round Rock, Pflugerville and the
surrounding area. They are a non-audition, volunteer organi-
zation of dedicated musicians who love to perform and whose
purpose is to provide a cultural and musical experience for
Central Texas communities.
