The Alamo
Lunch on Your Own
Thursday, March 5, $53 pp

Texas victories in Gonzales, Goliad,
and San Antonio during the fall and winter
of 1835 make up the first part of the Texas
Revolution; the second phase centers on the
Mexican invasion of Texas. Taking the Presidio
La Bahia and then San Antonio de Bexar brought the wrath of
General Santa Anna to bear upon the Texans, leading to the
ultimate price for freedom at the Battle of the Alamo.
Explore these historical sites: Mission Concepcion – site of the
first major engagement of the revolution; The Briscoe Western
Museum – home to an amazing diorama depicting the battle at
the Alamo, plus a collection of Western art and artifacts; and
The Alamo – the shrine to Texas Independence.
We will make a morning coffee stop at Buc-ee’s. At 12:30 p.m.
enjoy ‘lunch on your own’ at The River Center Mall.
After lunch we will see the IMAX movie,
The Price of Freedom
- Battle of the Alamo
. A short walk across the street brings us
to our self-guided audio tour of The Alamo and a Q & A session
with an Alamo historian.
Ticket cost includes transportation, entrance fees, movie, and
audio tour.
