First, we will travel to The
Domain where you may select the restaurant
of your choice for dinner on your own. The
Domain has many restaurant choices such
as Maggiano’s, The Steeping Room, Urban Grill, Gloria’s,
California Kitchen, and Black Finn to name a few.
After dinner, we will head to the Long Center to hear Midtown
Men, who sing favorites from ’60s bands such as The Beatles,
The Rascals, Motown, and The Four Seasons. If you liked
Jersey Boys
, you will love the Midtown Men as they are the
original cast. This concert is filled with music that defined the
’60s. This electrifying production has top-shelf choreography,
onstage chemistry and incredible vocal performances.
Ticket cost includes transportation and orchestra seats for the
performance.

Jay Leno is coming to Austin,
and Sun City is going to see him! As former
host of
The Tonight Show
for more than two
decades, Jay Leno has long been a familiar
face to households across the country. Before he took over the
coveted role from Johnny Carson, Leno was an established
stand-up comedian and television writer, and he continued to
return to those roots throughout his lengthy career. With focus
on current events in politics and entertainment, this Emmy
Award winner delights audiences time and time again thanks
to his flexibility with fresh, topical material.
Prior to the show, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at Cantina
Laredo in downtown Austin. A special fajita buffet includes
fresh guacamole along with salsa, chips, and chili con queso
followed by beef and chicken fajitas with all the trimmings. You
will be able to make your fajitas just the way you like them.
Dessert choices are Mexican apple pie or a Mexican brownie.
There will be ample time for you to purchase a beverage of
your choice from the cash bar. Consider the special Sun City
$3 “Casa Rita” to complement your dinner with a Texas flair.

Bat Cruise – Lady Bird Lake – Austin - NEW!

Join us for one of those attractions
that helps “Keep AustinWeird!” Bat watching
at the Congress Avenue Bridge draws people
from far and near. When up to 1.5 million
Mexican free-tail bats fly out from the bridge, all eyes are on
the sky, and we will have the best vantage point to see them
from the Lone Star Riverboat on Lady Bird Lake.
We will first enjoy an hour-long guided cruise on the lake taking
in the sights and the dramatic cityscape at sunset just as the
skyscrapers light up. At dusk we will be positioned under the
bridge to witness first one, then hundreds, then thousands of
bats emerging from under the bridge for their nightly search
for insects. This is a sight not to be missed!
Ticket cost includes transportation and riverboat cruise.

Join us for the finale of the Austin
Symphony Orchestra Classical series. On the

, by Pietro Mascvagni, who is most well-known for
his opera,
Cavalleria Rusticanana
. However, the highlight of
the evening will be the performance of Orff’s famous
Carmina
Burana
, sung by Chorus Austin and Chorus Austin Children’s
Chorus. Orff composed this work in the 1930s, putting to music
24 Latin poems written by students and clergy in the 12th and
13th century for travelling scholars. The pieces aremostly bawdy,
irreverent, and satirical. The single song
OFortuna
(the Roman
goddess of luck and fate) from themovement
Fortuna Imperatrix
Mundi
, is often heard in popular films. You don’t want to miss
over 150 musicians performing this colossal piece of music.
Before the performance we will enjoy a leisurely meal at Trio
Restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel. Menu includes Trio’s mixed
salad, their famous pork chop, mashed potatoes, asparagus and
dessert. Soft drink, tax and tip included.
After dinner, we will arrive at the Long Center in time for the
informative pre-concert talk given by Bob Buckalew.
