Going Bats in Austin - NEW!
Wednesday, May 29 OR Thursday, June 6, $22 pp
Depart SCPL 6:45 p.m.; Return 10 p.m.
Think you’ve seen everything Aus-
tin has to offer? One of the things that keeps
Austin “weird” is its affinity for bats. Austin
attracts visitors fromaround the world to view
the 1.5millionMexican free-tail bats streaming
out nightly fromunder the Congress Avenue Bridge. And we will
have the best vantage point to see them!
We will drive directly to Austin’s lovely Lady Bird Lake where
we will board the Lone Star Riverboat for a one-hour narrated
cruise, seeing the sights along the lake and the lovely cityscape
at sunset. Just as it is starting to get dark, we will pull up close
to the bridge and hold our breath as first one, then ten, then
hundreds and thousands of bats fly out fromunder the bridge on
their nightly feeding flight. It is a sight not to be missed!
Because of the popularity of this trip there will be two dates to
choose from.
Ticket cost includes transportation and riverboat cruise.
