Tickets for outings listed for the first time will be available
Friday, March 1, at 8 a.m.
Texas Independence and the current War on Terrorism. The
highlight of the day will be the one hour reenactment of the 1944
battle of Montelimar when the 36th infantry almost cut off the
retreat of the German Army following the invasion of Southern
France. This is vehicle heavy with a Sherman tank, Armored
Car and more.
Note: You will be on your own, standing and walking,
to view and tour the museum and exhibits. There are
bleachers for the one hour reenactment but you might
want to bring a camp chair for resting on your own.
Bring a hat, sunscreen, and cash for the food vendors.
Youmay bring your own sack lunchwith food andwater.
This event will go rain or shine.
Ticket cost includes transportation and event admission. Ticket
purchase deadline is Friday, April 19.

Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA)
San Antonio La Villita
Tuesday, April 23, $31 pp

Each year during Fiesta San
Antonio, the historic downtown village of La
Villita takes center stage as visitors gather to
celebrate the city’s unique heritage at a Night
in Old San Antonio (NIOSA). There will be
fifteen heritage-themed areas with more than a dozen non-stop
entertainment stages. You will be able to enjoy country music,
jazz, Tejano and Irish folk performances representing the diverse
cultures that make up SanAntonio. There will also bemore than
240 elaborately decorated food and drink booths serving Texas
BBQ, Mexican, German, Cajun and Polish food, just to name a
few. Come join us as experience this festive tradition!
Note: Therewill be extensivewalking, rain or shine, and
large crowds at this mostly outdoor event.
Ticket cost includes transportation and admission to NIOSA.
Meals are on your own.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center & Waco
Mammoth Site
Wednesday, April 24, $68 pp
Depart SCPL 9 a.m.; Return 6:30 p.m.
Join us for a trip to Glen Rose with
the opportunity to view, learn about, and inter-
act with some of the world’s most endangered
animals. Visit a 2700 acre wildlife conservation
facility, home tomore than 1000 exotic animals.
Along the ten mile scenic Wildlife Drive are cheetahs, giraffes,
Grevy’s, zebras, kudu, addax and white rhinoceroses plus over
60 other species.
Before the tour, we will sit at the overlook for our catered lunch.
Sandwich choice (at time of ticket purchase): roast beef with horse-
radish cheddar on whole wheat multigrain bread OR rotisserie
chicken salad on a croissant. Chips, cookie and bottled water are
included. After lunch, we will get into open-air tour vehicles with
our extremely knowledgeable guides. Be prepared to experience
ostriches and giraffes, among others, coming close enough to look
you in the eye! We’ll be so close that we’ll be able to feed them.
Thenwe’re off toWaco to see theMammoth Site. These animals
are not nearly as lively as the ones in Glen Rose because they’ve
been extinct for thousands of years! The site includes a breath-
taking dig shelter that creates an art gallery-like atmosphere.
Natural light floods in from all directions, and a suspended
walkway provides a stunning overhead view of the mammoths.
Note: Be prepared for the weather of the day. Bring hats
and sunscreen if necessary. Don’t forget your camera!

and food for the animals.
