eating establishment, but quickly became known in Austin as
the place for gourmet dining at its best. Cozy rooms are filled

Austin Symphony Orchestra - Quattro Mani,
piano duo; Dinner at Macaroni Grill - NEW!
Friday, May 3, $93 pp
Depart SCPL 4 p.m.; Return 11 p.m.
Susan Grace and Alice Rybak have
gained high praise from both critics and au-
diences for their concerts and recordings.
Formed in 1989, Quattro Mani piano duo has
performed throughout the US and abroad,
and each lady has earned recognition as a soloist and chamber
musician.
Tonight’s concert at the Long Center opens with Beethoven’s only
opera,
Overture to Fidelio, Op. 72c.
This is the second overture
he wrote for the opera and later in the evening we hear his third
overture to the same opera,
Leonore Overture No. 3, Op. 72b
.
Included in tonight’s eclectic music is
Shapeshifters
by Paul
Lansky, whose burgeoning career shifted from composer of
computer-generated music to composer of music written for,
as he humorously puts it, “carbon-based life forms.” This is a
favorite piece and has been performed in many concert venues.
Another opera performance by the piano duo is Fitkin’s
Delius,
Prelude to Circuit
. The final piece is
Circuit
, also composed by
the young British composer Fitkin in 2002.
Dinner before the performance is at Macaroni Grill in Round
Rock, with your choice of pollo caprese grilled chicken breast,
capellini mushrooms and green beans; grilled king salmon with
sun-dried tomato orzo; or chianti bbq sirloin steak with pro-
sciutto mac-n-cheese, grilled vegetables, garlic dip and crostini.
All dinners include a salad, side, and beverage.
Ticket cost includes transportation, pre-concert talk, concert,
and dinner.
