MARCH 2013

It’s that time of year again when we put out the call for candi-
dates for the Sun City Texas Community Association Board of
Directors Elections. Any resident may file to run for the two
open seats. Directors Hatley and Pender are completing first
terms and are eligible to run for a second term.
Interested in running? Here’s what you should do:
Directors elected this year will play a key role in moving our
homeowner’s association toward a smooth transition of owner-
ship. If you are interested in becoming a candidate, you may
pick up an application to serve as Director of SCTXCA in the
CAMember Services Office. These packets, with the necessary
forms, will be available in early March. Be prepared to include
with your application a one-page brief biography for posting.
Your picture may be taken at the CA Member Services Office
or you can include a personal photograph.*
Per the requirements in the Voting and Election Policy, a
Candidate Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24 at 9
a.m. in the Ballroom, so that all residents will have an op-
portunity to hear from the candidates and submit questions.
Distributing ballots to homeowners
The Elections Committee will be mailing out one ballot to the
owner of each lot. These ballots are scheduled to be mailed on
May 2. The Elections Committee will provide further details
to the community as the filing period approaches. The ballots
must be returned by the owner either in person or by mail
before the end of the balloting period, which is two (2) hours
before the beginning of the Annual Meeting on May 23.
If you will not be at your Sun City Texas residence during
these times, please provide the Community Association with
a correct mailing address for your ballot. Begin checking your
calendars for the dates of your trips, etc., and when the elec-
tion dates might affect you. There will be more information in
future issues of the Sun Rays and the weekly Communicator.
Questions and contact information
Please contact the Elections Committee at caelections@sctxca.

important process. Additionally, the Voting and Elections

all necessary information concerning the election process.
*At press time, campaign schedules were being finalized and
the final deadlines will be communicated to residents through
the CA Communicator,
and Channel 79.
CA NEWS
Springtime is just arriving…birds are
chirping and flowers are blooming.
David Longacre and I are going to be
walking all the landscaped maintained
yards and identifying any plants that
need to be replaced. Our main focus will
be on identifying dead or declining turf,
shrubs or trees.
We will be carefully coordinating efforts
with TCB for best plant selection, while
also addressing the concerns of the resi-
dents.
TCB has two scheduled mowing visits this
month and will perform an IGR broadcast
of ant bait within the landscaped main-
tained yards. Weed control in beds will be
done as necessary, as well as insect and
disease monitoring for the plant material.
Door tags will be distributed to each
home to confirm chemical applications
and to comply with pesticide application
laws. Shrub pruning is scheduled to start
in March, and our CA staff is working
closely with TCB on best pruning prac-
tices. Crews are instructed to trim plants
from sidewalks, walls, air conditioner
units, and roof lines.
We would like to encourage you to attend
the monthly Landscaped Maintained
Homes Committee meetings, and we
always welcome constructive criticism,
suggestions and comments. Meetings are
held every first Wednesday of the month
at 10 a.m. in the Activities Center.
For a Service Request or questions re-
garding your landscaping, please con-
tact us. You can also fill out a service
request form, located on the back wall
of the Library.
