Cooler weather makes October a good time to walk
around your yard and take note of overgrown bushes
and trees, and to replace any plants that didn’t make it
through the heat of the summer. No paperwork is neces-
sary for plant replacement, and you will find a range
of hardy and beautiful suggested plants in Appendix
G. Alternately, Sun City’s Garden Club has prepared a
beautifully illustrated foliage guide, available at each
monitor’s station, to help you repopulate your established
landscape beds.
ELECTION SIGNS
Election signs currently in your yard will remain valid
through the month of October; however, please make a
note to take them down by Friday, November 14, 2014.
As a reminder, Halloween decorations may be displayed
on your lawn only between October 24 and November 7.
L.E.D. SKYLIGHTS
Skylights (rectangular and tubular) containing internal
L.E.D. lighting no longer require submission of paper-
work to the Modifications Committee, provided light is
fully shielded from outside view. Intallation of skylights
still require a permit from the city of Georgetown.
FALL TOUCH-UPS
If your mailbox is looking dull or dingy, now is an ideal
time to spruce it up. A spray can of black Rustoleum (with
proper protection for non-paint areas) can do wonders for
the front gate, mailbox and metal railings. If you aren’t
sure of how to do the job yourself, contact a handyman.
And finally, good luck to all hoping for a visit from the
Great Pumpkin! Just don’t stay up too late.

Trash Cart and No Bags Starts
October 1
Submitted by Keith Hutchinson, Public Communications
Manager, City of Georgetown
Starting October 1, all of the trash that City of Georgetown
residents place at the curb must fit in the trash cart. The new
cart-and-zero-bags limit for trash items is part of the City’s solid
waste contract and is an effort to increase recycling.
Additional trash bags or bundles which don’t fit in the cart must
have a Bag Tag in order to be collected. Bag Tags are available
for $5 each from the Customer Care office in the Georgetown
Municipal Complex at 300-1 Industrial Avenue.
Customers within the city limits of Georgetown may call in a
bulk waste pickup for larger items that don’t fit in the cart. This
pickup would include items such as furniture or appliances. Two
free bulk waste pickups are provided each year. To schedule a
bulk waste pickup, call Texas Disposal Systems at 512-930-1715.
