Several Sundancers, including the club
caller, joined around 4,000 other dancers
from all over the world at the US National
Square Dance Convention in Little Rock,
Arkansas in June. Check out the Around

Club Tournament and Social

Would you like to participate in some
friendly competition and camaraderie
while playing table tennis? Then don’t
miss the club tournament and social at
the Cowan Creek Amenity Center in the
Florence/Georgetown rooms on Saturday,
October 11. In addition to this event, the
Table Tennis Club offers daily opportu-
nities for socialization, athletic interac-
tion, fitness and instruction. Tables, balls
and paddles are available in the Salado
Room at the Cowan Creek Amenity Cen-
ter whenever the room is not being used
for other events. Check the weekly room
schedule on the SCTXCA website under
Community Association > RoomReserva-
tions > Room Schedule or at the Cowan
Creek Monitor’s Desk to determine when
the Salado room is available. Each time
you play, please sign your name and note
the time in the attendance book located
on the counter in the Salado room.
The Board of Directors (President, Sha-
ron Tillisch; Vice President, Dean Gin-
ther; Secretary, Sheila Engel; Treasurer,
Pat Landis; Activities Director, Lionel
Menchaca) meets quarterly and provides
leadership and direction for the club.
Club members are encouraged to attend
all open Board meetings. Check the club
website for news, events, tournaments,
photos, and other materials related to club
activities and table tennis. Yearly dues
are $10 per person and can be paid on the
SCTXCA website or by bringing a check
to the Social Center.

Open tennis is a time when any resi-
dent can come and play without making
a reservation on courts reserved for this
purpose; all levels of play are welcome.
Courts are reserved for Monday and
Wednesday evenings and Friday morn-
ings. Current hours are posted on bulletin
board. A SCTTA coordinator is there to
get play started.

Any resident may reserve a court. Each
day at 5 p.m., a random draw is held at
the gazebo for those residents in atten-
dance to reserve a court for play two days
in advance. Sign-up sheets are located at
the bulletin board.

ested in learning about tennis in
Sun City Texas and Georgetown

The Visual Arts Club welcomes all Sun
City Texas residents. Annual dues are
$15.
Nancy Rankin, who was voted the Peo-
ple’s Favorite at the VAC Summer Art
Show, will present the program at our
September meeting. She will explain
the process of painting with watercolor
on canvas.
The 9th Annual Competition Art
Show
takes place Sunday, September
21, with a reception in the Activities
Center Atrium from 2-5 p.m. Enjoy
refreshments and demonstrations in
addition to viewing approximately 150
paintings. The show runs through Sun-
day, November 1.
The Visual Arts Studio will be open for
all VAC members from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
on weekdays for “Open Painting,” except
when there are classes scheduled. Class
schedules are posted at the Studio.
