September Meeting
Knowing the proper way to harvest and
preserve wildflower seeds to keep themvi-
able for many years is an invaluable skill
for Texas gardeners. Learn how at our
September meeting when guest speaker
Collene Sweeney, Williamson County
Master Gardener and active volunteer
at the Lady Bird JohnsonWildflower Cen-
ter, presents “Saving Texas Wildflower
Seeds.”
The September agenda will also feature
“Plant of the Month” and “Tips of the
Month.” An ongoing slide show during
the social part of the meeting will feature
the September Yard of the Month. Mas-
ter Gardeners will be available to answer
your gardening questions. There will be a
table for sharing plants and garden items.
You can check out a book from the por-
table gardening library and you might
even win a door prize at the end of the
meeting.

locations, such as Enchanted Rock State
Natural Area and Colorado Bend State
Park. Participants can choose their indi-
vidual level of hike difficulty, with trails
varying from three to twelve miles in
length. Potential members are welcome
to take part in an introductory hike. In-

Horseshoe Courts
Contact: Tom Minor, 512-863-9811
Newly arrived homeowners have been
joining our club, but we need more play-
ers. Long-time residents are missing out
on fun and fellowship! Many of you have
played horseshoes in parks and at family
picnics, so what are you waiting for to
join us? Our club maintains 10 well-kept
courts, so come on down!
Shuffleboard SIG
Sun City Texas has an active Shuffle-
board group; approximately 20 indi-
viduals belong to the Shuffleboard SIG
and 20 other residents also play at the
two courts (adjacent to Bocce Courts,
and next to Horseshoes and Washers).
The courts are open every day to resi-
dents. Although there is no league play,
members of the SIG and other residents
gather at the courts at
9 a.m.
every Tues-
day and Thursday to play for one hour.
Newcomers are welcome to join us any
time. If you have not played in the past
and would like to be introduced to the
game at a time other than 9 a.m. Tues-
days and Thursdays, email Tom Rice at
