Monday night is Social Billiards. This is
a great opportunity for ladies and couples
to play or learn to play with no pressure.
Just drop in and have some fun! Begin-
ners are encouraged and folks show up
anytime after 6 p.m.
Members are eligible for lessons, tourna-
ments and special billiards parties. Our
stereo system plays background music,
the televisions show financial news in the
mornings and news and sports the rest
of the day. We are a Wi-Fi hot spot, too!
Our players range from beginners to ex-
pert. The annual dues are $11 for each
member. Applications are available in
the Billiard Center and online at Sun
City website ticketing.

We invite all Sun City Texas residents
to come and enjoy the game of bocce.
Come out and give it a try. After a few
sessions, if you decide you like the game
as much as we do, we invite you to join
our club. Our dues are only $6 for the
remainder of the year.
Second League Winners:
The second
league of the year ended with Joe Platek
in first place, Russ Ruff in second place,
and Don Webb in third place. The next
league starts on August 14. There’s still
time to join the club and play in this
league!
Meeting:
There will be a Bocce Club
Member meeting on Thursday, August 7,
at 10 a.m. in the Jarrell/Walburg Rooms
at Cowan Creek Amenity Center.
Bocce Fact of the Month:
There are
basically three game strategies: (1) roll
your bocce ball closer to the pallino than
that of the opposition; (2) knock the op-
position’s bocce ball out of its position; or
(3) slam the pallino away from the bocce
balls. The latter option may result in a
no-score for that frame. Remember that
the bocce ball must be within 36 inches
of the pallino to score but no score for

We have two dances each month: our
monthly dance onWednesday, August 13,
and the Sunday afternoon Tea Dance on
August 24. Both dances will be to recorded
music for a wide range of dances, such as
Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, East
and West Coast Swing, Bolero, Samba,
Night Club Two Step, Tango, and Me-
rengue.
Guests are very welcome—come and
dance with us!
Ice water, plastic glasses, and napkins
will be provided for the regular monthly
dance, and you can bring your own special
alcoholic beverage.
TeaDance:

p.m. in the ballroom with a social from
1:15-1:45 p.m. Members, $2; guests, $5.
Hot tea and iced tea, and light refresh-
ments will be provided eachmonth. Bring

We offer a variety of
dance classes on a regular basis for cur-
rent Ballroom Dance Club (BDC) mem-

Membership is $14 annually and
covers admission to the monthly dances

Drop in!
First Wednesday club meet-
ings normally start at 6:30 p.m. with a
meet-and-greet. A 30-minute business
meeting follows. A radio/tech presenta-
tion tops off the evening.
August’s presentation
will be a vir-
tual tour of Dallas’ 2014 Ham-Com,
Texas’ largest ham radio convention
and swap-meet.

Become a member of one of Sun City’s
earliest chartered clubs. Aviation brings
folks together, so they can recall and rem-
inisce about days when they and their
friends and colleagues were more actively
involved in the industry. All are invited
to visit; membership is not limited to
pilots, but to anyone with an interest in
aircraft, aviation history or the aviation
community. Dues are $12 a year.
Members meet on the second Saturday of
each month at 8:30 a.m. for a social time
of coffee and donut holes in the Atrium
of the Activities Center.
