If you like to play Texas Hold’em or Oma-
ha High / Low, come and join other Sun
City resident players and have a great
time. Players come and go at their leisure
throughout the days of play.
All of the events listed take place in
the Activities Center located at 1 Texas
Drive. All Sun City residents—new
and established—are welcome to join
the club. Dues for the remainder of 2014
are $5 per resident and that allows each
member to participate in as many of the
games as he/she desires.

Newly retired or a new resident to Sun
City Texas? Looking for a fun hobby that
you never had time to pursue? We build
them and we run them: airplanes, sail-
boats, helicopters, powerboats, cars, and
off-roaders. Come and learn how to do it
with a group just like you―we have lots
of members, men and women, new to the
hobby along with some seasoned hobbyists
who will show you how. We’re just over two
years old and we’ve grown to more than
140 members. We even have a computer-
controlled Flight Simulator if you don’t
want to do the “live stuff.” We “fly it” at
the weekly meetings. We also fly heli’s
and small airplanes in the ballroom one
Sunday a month and do other “fun stuff”
at Berry Creek Pond and our off-site fly-
ing place for the gas and large airplanes.
August Schedule:
Ballroom fly-in and
car-driving on Sunday, August 3: 10:30
a.m. to 12:30 p.m., rotor craft; 12:30 p.m.
to 1:30 p.m., cars/trucks; 1:30 p.m. to 3:30
p.m., fixed winged aircraft. Boating at
Berry Creek Pond will be on Sunday, Au-
gust 31 at 1 p.m. Oh yes, informal sailing
every Tuesday and Saturday at 10 a.m.
at Berry Creek Pond.
We fly small electric airplanes on the golf
course driving ranges onMondays when a
course is closed for play. We also fly every
evening at the Cowan Creek driving range
after the Golf Shop is closed. We need
light wind conditions to fly, so our flying
usually takes place in the early mornings
or evenings. If you see us out flying, stop
by and say hello.

We do not meet during August when
many members are traveling. Our next
meeting will be Tuesday, September 16
at 5 p.m.
Another RV trip is scheduled for 2014:
September 30 to October 11 to the In-
ternational Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in
Albuquerque. Details and contact in-
formation are available on the website.
Members are encouraged to sign up for
trips as soon as possible.
The RV Club brings together those
residents of our active lifestyle com-
munity who also enjoy the RV lifestyle.
The result is a great combination for
friendships, travel and adventure. We
currently number nearly 100 rigs of vir-
tually every style and configuration. Our
members organize group RV trips to a
wide variety of destinations throughout
the year; they are listed on our website.
Interested residents can find member-
ship and other information on the club
website or by contacting Art Schmitt.

Dulcimers - a SIG of Singers
Summer is half over! We continue to
perform at local nursing homes—it gives
meaning to the long hot days of summer.
It is also fun to get out of the heat and
practice in the cool of the Activities Cen-
ter. Practice is every Saturday from 10
a.m. to noon, and every Tuesday from 6-8
p.m. Picker practice is every Thursday in
August from 1-3 p.m. in the Andice Room
of the Cowan Creek Amenity Center. All
are welcome to visit. Free lessons are of-
fered for interested parties in January and
February. Please contact Jeanne Lubey for
