Exciting Times for Sun City Texas
Thank you to my many supporters for this opportunity to serve,
and congratulations to Bob Glandt for his success as we join
Gary Preston and Glynn Hatley as resident members of the
CA Board of Directors. I appreciate the confidence of my fellow
board members in electing me to the position of Treasurer.
Do you realize that Georgetown, Texas, is arguably the number
one retirement location in the U.S.? This fact was one of the
motivators behindmy interest in becoming amember of the Sun
City Texas Community Association Board. We all have a vested
interest in making Sun City Texas successful, and I felt that I
could contribute to that success. I talked about various aspects
of governance, resident involvement, communication and con-
flict resolution during the campaign. I intend to follow through
on these common elements in fostering a sense of community.
Just a little over a month ago, during the Board of Director’s
campaign, we were talking about a Pulte/Del Webb transition
or an expansion of Sun City Texas. The recent communication
from the City of Georgetown and Pulte/Del Webb leaves little
question about the direction in which Pulte is heading with Sun
City Texas. It was announced on July 3 that the Pulte Group has
formally started the process to acquire and title land adjacent to
Sun City Texas. The city and Pulte have beenmeeting in recent
months and have now begun the public process to formalize the
agreements of annexing land into the city. After the completion
of the agreements, which is expected to be in the September
timeframe, a Town Hall will be held for the entire community
to share in more of the details and to explain the next steps in
the planning process. After completion of the agreements with
the City of Georgetown, a resident Expansion Task Force will
be formed to work closely with the Developer, Board, CA Staff
and Committees to assist in the planning process.
The next several years will be exciting for Sun City Texas—we
will experience significant change that will have a profound ef-
fect on our current lifestyle and sense of community. We have a
great place to live here in Central Texas and visitors who come
here will continue to be surprised by our delightful living en-
vironment and amenities, and the reasonable cost to maintain
our sustainable community. Our job is to continue to provide
the vibrant, responsive, harmonious involvement of as many
residents of the community as possible.
