Eastern Screech Owls as
Suburbanites
Dr. Fred Gehlbach will present his stud-
ies of how the Eastern Screech Owl has
adapted to life in the suburbs, especially
of drought-ridden Central Texas. Dr.
Gehlbach taught at Baylor University
for 30-plus years. In 1995, he and his
graduate students focused their studies
on U.S. and Latin American biota, with
an emphasis on urbanized nature and

exciting upcoming events. Leading the

On
Wednesday, March 13,
the club
will sponsor a
“Rally-O”
at Cowan
Creek Pavilion beginning at 10 a.m.
Rally-O consists of a course which in-
cludes 10-20 stations. At each station
there are instructions for the handler
to move with their dog in a certain way
such as left turn, walk fast, u-turn, etc.,
or perform a certain action such as sit,
stay, down, etc. The Rally offers both
dogs and handlers experiences that are
fun and energizing. The canines move at
their own pace, very similar to rally-style
auto racing. It is a fun, casual event, de-
signed to give every Pet Club member a
chance to come out and “strut their stuff”
and, most of all, HAVE FUN!
Any furthers questions about the Rally
or the Pet Club, please contact President
Tom Olsen at 512-639-2085 or suncity-
