Come celebrate spring by joining us for
an informative program at our March
meeting. Our speaker will be Michelle
Akindiya, the Farmer and Landscape
Manager for the Monument Café Group.
Michelle is responsible for landscaping
and growing food for the Monument
Café, El Monumento and the Monument
Market in Georgetown. Michelle’s back-
ground includes managing an organic
farm and vineyard in Illinois before she
moved back to Texas and delved into
the art of bio-intensive urban garden-
ing for this area. If you have visited the
herb, flower and vegetable gardens at
Monument Café, you will see her fan-
tastic results. She is pleased to share
her knowledge with us!
Also at our March meeting, master gar-
dener members will be able to answer
your gardening questions and to suggest
ideas about what to plant. Our agenda
will include “Plant of the Month” and
“March Gardening Tips” presentations.
The meeting will start with a social at
12:30 p.m. where you can enjoy sweet
treats while viewing a March Gardener
of the Month slide show, which honors
homeowner Joyce Moseley, 125 Dew-
berry Drive in Neighborhood 10. Check
out her photo in the “Around Sun City”
section in this month’s Sun Rays.
And don’t forget to mark your calendars
for May 3-4 for the Fifth Annual Sun
City Garden Club Tour to benefit local
charities. This will be an opportunity
to see some of our best Sun City yards
in full spring bloom.
