docks, we tour the Rip VanWinkle Gardens and Joseph Jefferson
plantation home. Lunch is on your own at the Jefferson Restau-
rant in the Rip Van Winkle Gardens. Our final day starts at a
down-home Cajun jam session at Savoy Music in Eunice. Then
we have lunch at a Cajun Restaurant in Jennings before touring
the Zigler ArtMuseumand step back in time at theW. H. Tupper
Museum and Bell South Telephone Museum.
Heading home on Sunday we stop in North Houston for lunch
at the Olive Garden before returning to Sun City around 5 p.m.
Evening dinners are on your own. Ticket cost includes transpor-
tation, admissions to all attractions, six nights at the Wingate
by Wyndham in Lafayette, six lunches and six hot breakfasts.

New Braunfels - “City of a Prince” - NEW!

New Braunfels is the only
Texas city founded by German royalty. Prince
Carl of Solms-Braunfels Germany, purchased
1,265 acres for $1,112 in 1845, and the “City of
a Prince” was born. Prince Carl led the first set-
tlers into New Braunfels. This story and many others are found
at The Sophienburg and Heritage Village Museums.
The Sophienburg is a treasure trove of well preserved artifacts and
fascinating stories of NewBraunfels’ first settlers, and Heritage
Village includes the historic 1845 Breustedt-Dillon house, the
Museumof TexasHandmade Furniture, an amazing cabinet shop,
the Reininger Log Cabin, and the Breustedt Summer Kitchen.
Well versed docents will guide us. You will tour one museum in
the morning, have lunch and then tour the other museum.
Lunch will be at Schobel’s on the River. A home cooked buffet
lunch features six vegetables, a variety of hand cut meats, soup,
salad, desserts, and soft drinks. After our afternoon tour you
will have free time to explore a bit of old downtown. Check out
the railroad depot, or Henne’s Hardware, the oldest operating
hardware store in Texas (awesome!), or stop inNaegelin’s Bakery
for a treat to take home. Between museum visits we will bus
along the historical streets to view some of the original homes.
Note: This is an active level 3 walking tour withmultiple
stops. Museum tours are 45-60 minutes in length.

Muster Day Reenactment at Camp Mabry

Each April, the TexasMilitary ForcesMu-
seum at Camp Mabry hosts its Muster Days
Festival. The festival features living history
exhibits, military vehicle rides, aircraft displays
and K9 Search and Rescue Demo.
The Museum will be open for you to view armored equipment
from the different wars as well as a room detailing the fight for
Texas Independence and the current War on Terrorism.
The highlight of the day will be at 2 p.m. – the one hour reenact-
ment of the 1944 battle of Montelimar when the 36th infantry
almost cut off the retreat of the German Army following the
invasion of Southern France. This is a vehicle heavy event with
a Sherman tank, Armored Car and more.
Note: This event is not handicapped accessible. You will
be on your own, standing andwalking, to view and tour
themuseumand exhibits. There are bleachers for the one-
hour reenactment but you might want to bring a camp
chair for resting on your own. Bring a hat, sunscreen,
and cash for the food vendors. You may bring your own
sack lunch with food and water. This event will go rain
or shine.
Ticket cost includes transportation and event admission. Ticket

Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA) - NEW!
San Antonio La Villita

Each year during Fiesta San
Antonio, the historic downtown village of La
Villita takes center stage as visitors gather to
celebrate the city’s unique heritage at a Night
in Old San Antonio (NIOSA). There will be
fifteen heritage-themed areas with more than a dozen non-stop
entertainment stages. You will be able to enjoy country music,
jazz, Tejano and Irish folk performances representing the diverse
cultures that make up SanAntonio. There will also bemore than
240 elaborately decorated food and drink booths serving Texas
BBQ, Mexican, German, Cajun and Polish food, just to name a
few. Come join us as we travel to San Antonio and experience
this festive tradition!
