Gruene Hall – Gospel Brunch with
a Texas Twist - NEW!
Sunday, April 14, $48 pp
Depart SCPL 8 a.m.; Return 4 p.m.
Set amongst the rollingHills of Tex-
as, the small community of Gruene, settled by
the Germans around 1840, is one of our most
popular destinations. This outing is back by
popular demand after our great trip last year.
The NewOrleans style gospel brunch in the famous Gruene Hall
is led by Bret Graham, a local favorite, along with “The Gospel
Silvertones” one of Austin’s newest groups performing all over
the state. The music lasts ninetyminutes and ends with a bang!
The one and only Gristmill Restaurant caters the all you can
eat buffet which includes roasted turkey breast, seasoned roast
beef, Polish wedding sausage and pepper bacon. Garlic mashed
potatoes, migas, scrambled eggs, French toast, bisquits, fried
apples, fruit and juices along with coffee accompany the meal.
What a feast! Seating is family style at long, picnic-style clothed
tables. If you need a cushion, please bring it along.
After all of that food we have two hours to roam around this
historic town, shop and hopefully see some bluebonnets. Note
that walking around this town is over uneven and unpaved
walkways. Wear comfortable shoes.
After the brunch concludes, the tables are removed and country
music begins at 1 p.m. so feel free to sit, relax and enjoy more
toe-tapping music.
Ticket cost includes transportation, brunch and music show.
Deadline for ticket purchase is April 10.
