Museum of Biblical Art and North Park
Mall/Dallas
Thursday, March 28, $38 pp
Depart SCPL 8 a.m.; Return 6:30 p.m.
Established in 1967, theMuseumof Biblical
Art is an art museum that is unlike any in the
world. Its mission is simple: to display art with
a Biblical theme. Nothing of its size exists in
the U.S. Diverse types of art from the Renais-
sance to theModern are exhibited including sculptures, religious
objects and paintings. The Jewish Gallery exhibits ceremonial
objects and paintings by Israeli artists. A life-size replica of the
Pieta was recently acquired from the Michelangelo Museum
in Florence. But the most stunning picture is the Resurrection
Mural measuring forty feet wide by twelve feet high created
especially for the museum.
For lunch, we’re off to North Park Mall, the premier shopping
center, offering a mix of the finest in luxury shopping to the
traditional, in a setting with fountains, a landscaped garden
and surrounded by a collection of 20th Century sculpture and
art. You’ll be on your own to choose from a cup of coffee to fine
dining or just shop to your hearts’ content!
