Joan Miro Exhibit –
McNay Museum – San Antonio - NEW!
Lunch on Your Own
Tuesday, November 17, $47 pp
Depart SCPT 8 a.m.; Return 4:30 p.m.
Joan Miro was anything but a
traditional Spanish painter from Barcelona.
His works boast bold colors of red, blue and
yellow along with sculptures reflecting surreal
birds and figures. Living in a sea port town,
folklore in the church and his Catalan upbringing is evident in
all of his work. The final period of his work from 1960 to the
end of his life focuses on huge pieces of work, bringing enjoyment
for the world to witness such art. This collection has never been
seen outside of Madrid and encompasses 50 paintings, drawings
and sculptures.
After spending an hour and a half viewing the art and sculptures
and the gorgeous villa and grounds, we will head to the River
Walk for lunch on your own, shopping and exploring. You will
be dropped off and picked up at the Menger Hotel in easy reach
of the River Center Mall and the River Walk. Maps and lunch
suggestions will be provided.
Ticket cost includes transportation and museum entrance.
