Tickets for outings listed for the first time will be available Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 8 a.m.
once the seat of Spanish rule in Texas; and visit San Fernando
Cathedral, America’s oldest cathedral sanctuary. We will stand
in history’s footsteps at Military Plaza and learn the stories of
The Canary Islanders, the first Spanish settlers of San Antonio
and The Chili Queens who brewed “soup of the Devil.” For added
Spanish flavor, we will include tales of Fiesta San Antonio, Battle
of the Flowers and stop to see the world’s largest Virgin Mary
Mosaic. We will finish with a drive around the historical village
of La Villita and Mission San Antonio de Valero, The Alamo.
We will make morning and afternoon stops at Buc-ee’s.
Note: You will be walking several blocks to visit the
Mercado, Palace, Cathedral, and Mission. Please know
your limitations.

State Fair of Texas – Dallas
Meals on Your Own
Thursday, Oct. 15, $34 pp
Depart SCPL 7:45 a.m.; Return 8 p.m.
We will travel to Fair Park in Depart SCPL 6:15 p.m.; Return 10:30 p.m.
Dallas to visit the State Fair of Texas, an
annual event not to be missed. To keep the cost
of this trip down, we will travel on Senior
Citizen Day when our admission is free. On
our way we will stop in Waco at Collin Street Bakery.
Once we arrive at the fair, everyone is free to go where you
please. As you enter the grounds, you will receive a schedule of
events and a map so that you may plan your day. After a full
day of greeting Big Tex, watching pigs race, eating corny dogs,
and going on tram and roller coaster rides, we will get back on
the bus and head home. We will stop at Slovacek’s in West on
our return trip, in case anyone is still hungry or thirsty and
needs a comfort stop.
Notes: Bring a visor or sun protection as it can still be hot at
this time of the year. Also, the fair grounds are extensive so
wear comfortable walking shoes. More information about the

natural sense of melody made him one of the
’70s most iconic singer/songwriters.

Collaborating with members of the Eagles and John David
Souther, Browne helped establish a mellow SoCal sound. Browne’s
debut album produced a hit with “Doctor My Eyes” (Number
Eight, 1972) and eventually went gold. He co-wrote the Eagles’
first hit, “Take It Easy.” Browne was inducted into the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 by Bruce Springsteen and has sold
over 18 million albums in the Unites States. He has recently
been awarded an Americana Music Award.”
You will remember such songs as “The Pretender,” “Doctor My
Eyes,” “Somebody’s Baby,” “Stay” and “These Days” just to name
a few. Join us as we attend this rare performance by the legendary
singer/songwriter Jackson Browne.
Before the concert we will stop at the Domain for dinner on your
own. Choose from many outstanding restaurants!

and Gunnar Nelson present an interactive, multi-media rock
& roll concert experience, taking the audience on a musical
journey down memory lane. Matthew and Gunnar perform their
dad’s greatest hits including ‘Poor Little Fool,’ ‘Hello Mary Lou,’
‘Travelin’ Man,’ ‘I’m Walking’ and ‘Garden Party’ alongside
their self-penned chart toppers ‘Love & Affection’ and ‘After
