Come to the Garden Club’s monthly
meeting for garden tips, our plant of the
month and educational programming. Ar-
rive early for coffee, cookies and an op-
portunity ask a question of experienced
local gardeners. You can also check out a
gardening book or find a plant or garden
item on the sharing table. Our March
speaker will be Catrin Dubois, Landscape
Superintendent for the Sun City Texas
Common Areas. Catrin has 17 years of
experience in watching how perennials
perform after cutbacks. She will share
her knowledge on why, when and how to
prune landscape plants in this area. Her
“Pruning Do’s and Don’ts” program will
surely help you create a beautiful yard.

Hiking
Contact: Jan Woolheater, 512-868-

The Hiking Club has nearly 90 hikes
planned for 2015, as well as social events
like our Spring Fling and Fall Festival.
We hike sites near (the San Gabriel River
Trail and the Lake Georgetown Goodwa-
ter Loop) and far (Colorado Bend State
Park and Enchanted Rock State Natural
Area). Our hikes range from easy, brief
excursions on level ground, to challenging
treks which stretch over rocky and hilly
terrain. Special events in March include
a dozen hikes, plus our marathon and
half marathon around Lake Georgetown.
Check out our calendar online for details.
Our next general membership meeting is
Tuesday, March 10 in the Atrium – all are
welcome. Interested folks may join us on
an introductory hike. See you on the trail.

Horseshoe Courts
Contact: Tom Minor, 512-863-9811
Newly arrived homeowners have been
joining our club, but we need more play-
ers. Long-time residents are missing out
on fun and fellowship! Many of you have
played horseshoes in parks and at family
picnics, so what are you waiting for to
join us? Our club maintains 10 well-kept
courts, so come on down!
Shuffleboard SIG
Sun City Texas has an active Shuffle-
board group; approximately 20 indi-
viduals belong to the Shuffleboard SIG
and 20 other residents also play at the
two courts (adjacent to Bocce Courts,
and next to Horseshoes and Washers).
The courts are open every day to resi-
dents. Although there is no league play,
members of the SIG and other residents
gather at the courts at
9 a.m.
every Tues-
day and Thursday to play for one hour.
Newcomers are welcome to join us any
time. If you have not played in the past
and would like to be introduced to the
game at a time other than 9 a.m. Tues-
days and Thursdays, email Tom Rice at
