Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers
Dinner at P.F. Chang’s - NEW!
Tuesday, July 29, $119 pp
Depart SCPL 4:30 p.m.; Return 11 p.m.
Enjoy an original, freewheeling,
high-energy performance at the Long Center!
Grammy award-winning collaborators Steve
Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers pres-
ent true bluegrass that merited this accolade
fromExaminer.com: “True bluegrass, when done well, is a thing
of art, and the Steep Canyon Rangers are the genre’s current
Rembrandt.”
Martin’s banjo work is clean, technical, graceful, and vibrant,
plus he enlivens the show with comedic banter while accompa-
nied by a band of young pickers. His comedy is a key part of the
performance, and the music is consistently excellent. The Steep
CanyonRangers, energetic and exciting, use acoustic instruments
to create a traditional bluegrass sound. They are known for their
myriad talents—nimble instrumental agility, tight harmony
vocals, and inventive songwriting. The event includes vocalist
Edie Brickell for several songs. Her voice is seasoned, confident,
and affable. She and Martin have great chemistry onstage, like
old friends who are excited to see each other.
Before the show, our eveningwill beginwith dinner at P.F. Chang’s
downtown location. Menu is egg drop soup, chicken lettuce wraps,
crab wontons, spicy chicken, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef,
crispy honey shrimp, and white or brown rice. Rounding off this
delicious meal we will have sweet treats. Beverage choices are
iced tea, soda, or coffee. Tax and tip are included.
Ticket cost includes transportation, dinner, and performance
ticket.
