Spring is here! The trees are budding
and flowers are blooming, while the Sun
City Pet Club prepares for the May 8
general meeting. Since our gatherings
are few, it is exciting when they occur.
Please mark your calendar and come
to the Atrium in the Activities Center
at 6:30 p.m. We are planning to fea-
ture two speakers: one from R.O.C.K.
(Ride on Center for Kids) and the other
a representative from one of our local
animal shelters.
In case you aren’t familiar with
R.O.C.K., it is a local Georgetown non-
profit that is currently celebrating 15
years of service to the area. They offer
“healing through horses,” which pro-
vides equine-assisted activities for chil-
dren and adults with physical, cognitive
and emotional disabilities. There is no
age limit to their participants and vol-
unteers are needed. Call 512-930-7625
for additional information.
Therapy Dogs
Spring is also a good time to “polish”
the skills of those who work so diligently
with Therapy Dogs. There are a number
of qualified teams in Sun City Texas
who regularly visit schools, care facili-
ties, hospitals and private homes. Once
again, volunteers are always welcomed.
Information can be found by calling Tom
Olsen at 512-639-2085.

Spring Tournament
The Spring Tournament was held in
March and it was a huge success. For
the first time, one of our Sun City Texas
tournaments had a registration that ex-
ceeded 50 players.
Feedback from attendees indicated that
organization, structure of play and the
skills of the referees were highly rated.
Referees received training, as this was
the first tournament to use referees.
The four-person teams were organized
into three skill levels: A, B and C. This
was beneficial as the people on each team
were able to participate effectively in their
team matches and the outcome of the
play. Each team in a skill level played a
round robin. The matches were organized
so that each team also provided a referee
when that team had a “by.”
All in all, this was a real step forward for
the Club and its event calendar. Every-
one will be looking forward to the next
tournament.
Kudos to Mary Payne (and Stan) and her
excellent team.
