We invite all Sun City Texas residents to
come and enjoy the game of bocce. Bocce
balls for everyone’s use are in the gray
equipment bin located next to the shed.
There will be a Bocce Club member
meeting on Thursday, May 8 at 10 a.m.
in the Jarrell/Walburg Meeting Rooms
in the Cowan Creek Amenity Center.
Our high scorer for the month was Larry
Hunting, who scored a 5-point frame.
Congratulations!
The first league of 2014 ended with Joe
Ruben in first place, Stanley Payne in
second place and Russ Ruff in third
place. The next league starts on May 2.
The third annual Italian Club-Bocce
Club match is planned for May 3, with
lunch following the event.
Bocce Fact of the Month:
The team
with bocce balls closest to the pallino
scores for each frame. One point is
given for each ball that is closer to the
pallino than any ball of the opposing
team provided that the ball is within 36
inches of the pallino. If opposing balls
are equidistant from the pallino, a tie is
declared with no points given to either
team. If the bocce ball is actually touch-
ing the pallino, a “kiss” worth 2 points is
awarded. The scoring team for the frame
will start the next frame by tossing out
the pallino, the target ball.
