Horseshoe Courts
Contact: Bob Blattner, President, 512-
869-8226 or
We are now playing at the courts at 10
a.m. on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Shuffleboard SIG
Sun City Texas has an active Shuffle-
board group; approximately 20 indi-
viduals belong to the Shuffleboard SIG
and 20 other residents also play at the
two courts (adjacent to Bocce Courts,
and next to Horseshoes and Washers).
The courts are open every day to resi-
dents. Although there is no league play,
members of the SIG and other residents
gather at the courts at 10 a.m. every
Tuesday and Thursday to play for one
hour.
Shuffleboard is fun for individuals of all
ages and all physical abilities. It is easy
to learn and easy to play―an ideal out-
door activity to enjoy with friends and
neighbors. Newcomers are welcome to
join us any time. If you have not played
in the past and would like to be intro-
duced to the game at a time other than
10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, email
Tom Rice at

Nursery open Thursdays and
Saturdays, 9-11 a.m.
Garden Beds available now.
Contact: Lynsie Lander,
The Horticulture Club manages the five-
plus acre Sun City Organic Garden, lo-
cated at 141 Sun City Blvd. near the soft-
ball field. We have more than 260 raised
garden beds measuring 5 ft. x 24 ft. and
all beds have water provided by our onsite
water well. We hold spring and fall plant
sales to help raise funds to support the
club and keep us growing, as well as many
social events during the year.
Inside the 8 foot deer fence, we have many
SIGs. There is a fruit orchard with peach,
plum, nectarine, fig and apple trees, and
the herb garden where members can clip
herbs for their own use. Our Nursery SIG
takes in donated plants and nurtures them
for resale year-round. We also have an Iris
SIG, with about 50 varieties of Bearded
Iris available year-round. Our commercial-
grade Greenhouse has been in operation
for one year, and members enjoy learning
about seed starting.
If an active group like the Horticulture
Club sounds interesting to you, visit us for
a tour most Saturdaymornings at the Gar-
dens from 9-11 a.m. Or come to a monthly
meeting on first Tuesdays, 1 p.m. in the
Atrium, where we have informative pro-
grams on gardening and related subjects.
