to 34 inches, and uses a perforated plastic
ball (similar to a whiffle ball). Paddles,
instead of racquets, are used and they are
made of wood or of composite materials.
Contrary to what many beginning play-
ers think, the goal is not to score points
by simply outhitting opponents. Finesse,
placement and positional sense are often
the difference. Many points are scored by
hitting the ball at tough angle and placing
it at the feet of opponents.
Players enjoy the social aspects and the
ability to stay active and fit. Players call
it the most addicting sport ever! Be pre-
pared for excitement, exercise, laughter
and new friends.
The Pickleball Club offers
free
beginner
training classes. All you need are court
shoes and workout gear. We provide the
expertise, the teachers, the equipment—
you provide the fun!

Newly retired or a new resident to Sun
City Texas? Looking for a fun hobby that
you never had time to pursue? We build
them and we run them: airplanes, sail-
boats, helicopters, powerboats, cars, and
off-roaders. Come and learn how to do it
with a group just like you―we have lots
of members, men and women, new to the
hobby along with some seasoned hobbyists
who will show you how. We’re just over two
years old and we’ve grown to more than
140 members. We even have a computer-
controlled Flight Simulator if you don’t
want to do the “live stuff.” We “fly it” at
the weekly meetings. We also fly heli’s
and small airplanes in the Ballroom one
Sunday a month and do other “fun stuff”
at Berry Pond and our off-site flying place
for the gas and large airplanes.
March schedule:
Ballroom Fly-In on
Sunday, March 2, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.;
and Boating at Berry Creek Pond on
Sunday, March 30, 1 p.m. Oh yes, infor-
mal sailing every Tuesday and Saturday
at 10 a.m. at Berry Creek Pond.
We fly small electric airplanes on the golf
course driving ranges on Mondays when
a course is closed for play. We also fly ev-
ery evening at the Cowan Creek driving
range after the Golf Shop is closed. We
need light wind conditions to fly so our
flying usually takes place in the early
mornings or evenings. If you see us out
flying, stop by and say hello.

business meeting. Please bring a dish
to share (main, side, salad or dessert)
and serving pieces needed. Also bring
your own plates, utensils, etc., and your

Two more RV Club trips have been
planned for 2014: May to the Breaux
Bridge Louisiana Crawfish Festival, and
October to the Albuquerque Interna-
tional Balloon Fiesta. Additional trips
are being planned for 2014. Details and
contact information are available on the
website. Members are encouraged to
sign up as soon as possible.
The RV Club brings together those
residents of our active lifestyle com-
munity who also enjoy the RV lifestyle.
The result is a great combination for
friendships, travel and adventure. We
currently number nearly 100 rigs of vir-
tually every style and configuration. Our
members organize group RV trips to a
wide variety of destinations throughout
the year; they are listed on our website.
We meet once a month except in June,
July and August when many of our
members are away traveling. Interested
residents can find membership and other
information on the club website or from
our contact above.
