March Meeting
Celebrate the color green at our March
meeting! Bell County Master Gardener
and herb expert, Terrie Hahn, will pres-
ent “Got Herbs?” Learn why herbs are
the perfect plant for Texas—most are
disease-, insect- and deer-resistant and
require very little water. There will be
treats made with herbs to sample and
herb-related door prizes!
You can check out a gardening book from
our new portable library, hear the March
“Garden Tips” and enjoy a “Plant of the
Month” presentation. Master Gardeners
will be available to answer your garden-
ing questions. There will be a table for
sharing plants, seeds and garden items.
Wear your green!
March Garden of the Month
In keeping with our herb theme, the Gar-
den Club features the Sun City Texas
Horticulture Club’s Herb Garden as our
“Garden of the Month.” We will have a
slide show of this lovely Sun City Texas
gem during the social part of the March
meeting. Be sure to check out the “Around
Sun City” section of this month’s
Sun Rays
for photos.
Annual Garden Tour
The Garden Club’s Sixth Annual Garden
Tour, “Butterflies, Birds and Blooms” will
beMay 3 and 4. Save the dates! Tickets can
be purchased through the Sun City Texas
website. This event is going to be bigger
and better this year, with a silent auction,
a “coffee shop” and other surprises. Net
proceeds of this annual fund-raiser help
support local charities.

We are now playing at the courts at 1
p.m. in the afternoons on Tuesday and
Thursdays. In April, we will begin play-
ing at 10 a.m.
Shuffleboard SIG
Sun City Texas has an active Shuffle-
board group; approximately 20 indi-
viduals belong to the Shuffleboard SIG
and 20 other residents also play at the
two courts (adjacent to Bocce Courts,
and next to Horseshoes and Washers).
The courts are open every day to resi-
dents. Although there is no league play,
members of the SIG and other residents
gather at the courts at 1 p.m.. every Tues-
day and Thursday to play for one hour.
Shuffleboard is fun for individuals of all
ages and all physical abilities. It is easy
to learn and easy to play―an ideal out-
door activity to enjoy with friends and
neighbors. Newcomers are welcome to
join us any time. If you have not played in
the past and would like to be introduced
to the game at a time other than 1 p.m.
