Irene Borawski, Jane Ruehl and Fran Carlquist, members
of the social committee of N53, welcome guests to the
Memorial Day Celebration at Cowan Creek Pavilion.
Mary and Ed Starr and David King enjoy selections from the deli-
cious buet.
N53 MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION
Residents and family members of N53 enjoyed a fabulous barbeque buet furnished by Café on the Green, music by the Kountry
Kombo, a hilarious balloon toss game and a lot of socialization. Prior to dining, Kathy Doris, neighborhood rep, lead the group in
prayer. Members of the social committe then solumnly read the name and age of a young soldier who has recently given their
life for us. Resident David King recorded the song of each branch of the military and when played, N53 residents who served
in that branch stood. It was indeed a time to reflect and be grateful for their service.
MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY AT VETERANS MEMORIAL PLAZA
The annual Memorial Day Ceremony on May 27 welcomed more than
1,500 attendees, including Sergeant Major of the Army, Raymond
Chandler III, the guest speaker for the event.
