Weekly Round Robin (RR) Events

Round Robin is a structured form of play organized by skill levels. In the time allocated to each skill level per round robin session, you will play 4 – 5 games, each with a different partner and against a different pair of opponents. It is designed so that all players are playing against people of roughly equal ability to make play the most fun and competitive.

Registration Guidelines.

  • The club hosts multiple Round Robin events throughout the weekend to accommodate all ability groups.  You must register in CMARS to secure a spot in a round robin session.  In CMARS please select the play level and time you are interested in.  You can only sign up for 1 Round Robin event per weekend.  If an opening is available between  8 & 5 the day before the Round Robin, you may sign up for a 2nd play date.  Should you register, before that time, for more than one Round Robin, your second reservation will be canceled.  We want to maximize one time players the opportunity to participate.

  • Registration for each event opens at 8:00 am the day after the previous round robin. So, if you play in a 2.5/3.0 Round Robin session on Saturday, you can sign up the next morning (Sunday) for the following Saturday.

  • You can cancel your reservation up until 15 hours (5 PM the day before) prior to start time. CMARS will automatically assign the first person on the waitlist to take your spot. Once you fall within the 15-hour window however, registration is closed and you will need to find a sub and contact your Round Robin Coordinator (see chart above) with the name of the individual who will take your place. Recommend you check CMARS to see if anyone is still on the waitlist before doing so.

  • For the Round Robin to work so no one has to wait, it's best to have 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 or 24 players registered. If we end up with an odd number and are not able to find subs, the round robin generator will identify those players who will get a "bye" for each game.

  • If you do not show up for your registered event and have not contacted the Round Robin Coordinator, it impacts all the other players participating in the event. Failure to show up without good reason will result in suspension from future Round Robin play.

Rules of Play.

A Round Robin Coordinator is present at every round robin session. The Coordinator posts player rotation and court assignments based on a random generated scoresheet, manages pace of play, and works to resolve any issues that may arise during the session.

  • Players should arrive 5 - 10 minutes before the round robin is scheduled to start to receive their first court assignments.

  • Prior to Game 1, teams spin paddle or toss a coin to see which team serves first. Winner can choose to serve, receive, side of court or defer decision to the other team. We will switch sides after 6 points.

  • For 3.5 and above Round Robins, games are played to 11 points, win by 1 point.

  • For 2.5/3.0 Round Robins, after the first set of competing teams attains 11 points, remaining teams will revert to rally scoring to complete their game and keep the pace of play on target.

  • Effective 1 December 2022, the Club stopped inputting game scores into DUPR, however, those players wanting to establish/maintain a rating are encouraged to track and input their own game scores into DUPR.
