COPs survey results

In January, the Citizen’s on Patrol pro-
gram (COPs) surveyed residents to bet-
ter understand our impact in the com-
munity and where we can improve our
operations. Overall, the survey results
were positive, revealing that 81 per-
cent of respondents are familiar with
the COPs duties and how they are per-
formed and 89 percent of residents agree
that the COPs program contributes to
the security and tranquility of Sun City
Texas. The following suggestions were
mentioned most often in the open-ended
feedback. We’ve included responses to
those topics below.
Communication: New articles about
COPs activities and duties will be in-
cluded in Sun Rays and the CA Commu-
nicator.
Car identification: The COPs vehicles
will be more boldly identified later this
spring.
First Aid/CPR/AED: Training is of-
fered to COPs volunteers at no cost and
we plan to work toward having as many
volunteers as possible trained by the end
Meet a committee: Modifications

The Modifications Committee (Mod
Com), referred to as the Review-
ing Body, was created in the Cov-
enants, Conditions and Restrictions
(CC&Rs) in 1996. The first members of
the committee were appointed by the
Sun City Board of Directors. Currently,
there are eight volunteer committee
members with three paid office staff and
one paid staff Director who acts as a liai-
son between the Mod Com and the Com-
munity Association (CA). Members serve
a two-year term, but not more than two
consecutive terms. The committee’s vol-
unteer members include a chairperson,
vice-chairperson and secretary.
The committee members meet the first and
third Thursday of each month to review
modification requests from Sun City Texas
residents. The number of requests received
average over 200 each month.

Resources and referrals: COPs volun-
teers make referrals to the Georgetown
Police Department’s (GPD) dispatcher
using 911 or the non-emergency num-
ber as appropriate. Current plans are to
support GPD’s Silver Shields and Take
Me Home programs and to work with
the Georgetown Emergency Manager in
support of future initiatives. COPs will

over modifications of residential lots and

said lots. It is the committee’s purpose to
ensure that reasonable design practices
are adhered to as stated in the DGs.

Mod Com will assist the homeowner in
developing an application that contains

Extended hours: Our current hours
of operation are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
We plan to explore the possibility of
extended hours of operation; however,
implementation will be dependent upon
volunteer availability and appropriate
approvals from the CA/EMC.

(Modifications) is located at 2 Texas Drive
across from Member Services. The office
staff are available to assist residents with
their submissions to Mod Com in person
or by phone Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office
is closed every Thursday.
