Don’t be a drag. Bag the bag!

Why bag the bag, you ask? Isn’t it garbage? It is not my worry what
is done with bread wrappers, dry cleaning bags, zip lock bags,
newspaper bags, you say. What does it matter?
It matters because plastic bags create litter along our highways
and byways. Plastic bags, soft drink cans and bottle rings can get
into our rivers and lakes and become a danger to aquatic life. Litter
cost Texas taxpayers $47 million in 2013 alone.*
Texas Disposal System (TDS) has provided residents with a FREE
way to properly dispose/recycle assorted plastic bag trash. However,
the yellow bags must be used properly. Currently, residents can
request a maximum of two bags, free of charge, from the monitors in
the Cowan Creek or Social Center lobbies. One bag can go through
at least two household recycle pickups before the bag is full. Two
bags are given to residents as a matter of convenience.
If the Bag the Bag program is not used as it is intended, some of the
elements may change. One possibility is only one bag per month be
issued to residents, another is a charge to the residents for the bags.
WHAT CAN GO IN THE YELLOW BAG?
