Join us on the trail! The Hiking Club will
sponsor more than eighty group hikes this
year, as well as four social events. Hike
destinations include not only nearby sce-
nic areas, such as the San Gabriel River
Trail and Lake Georgetown’s Goodwater
Loop, but also more far-flung locations,
such as Enchanted Rock State Natural
Area and Colorado Bend State Park.
Participants can choose their individual
level of hike difficulty, with trails vary-
ing from four to twelve miles in length.
Potential members are welcome to take
part in an introductory hike. Instructions
for applying for membership are accessed
by clicking on Contact Us>Application
Form. Our extensive website also contains
helpful guidelines on hike procedures and
equipment. Activities during February
include local hikes in Sun City and along
Lake Georgetown’s Goodwater Loop as

Llano, San Marcos, Lampasas and Bas-
trop areas. Obtain details on this month’s

Horseshoe Courts
Contact: Tom Minor, 512-863-9811
Newly arrived homeowners have been
joining our club, but we need more play-
ers. Long-time residents are missing out
on fun and fellowship! Many of you have
played horseshoes in parks and at family
picnics, so what are you waiting for to
join us? Our club maintains 10 well-kept
courts, so come on down!
Shuffleboard SIG
Sun City Texas has an active Shuffle-
board group; approximately 20 indi-
viduals belong to the Shuffleboard SIG
and 20 other residents also play at the
two courts (adjacent to Bocce Courts,
and next to Horseshoes and Washers).
The courts are open every day to resi-
dents. Although there is no league play,
members of the SIG and other residents
gather at the courts at
1 p.m.
every Tues-
day and Thursday to play for one hour.
Newcomers are welcome to join us any
time. If you have not played in the past
and would like to be introduced to the
game at a time other than 1 p.m. Tues-
days and Thursdays, email Tom Rice at
.
