It’s not too soon to start checking local
nurseries for plants you want to add to
your landscape this spring. Perhaps you
are considering roses but worry they
might be too finicky or require too much
work. According to February guest speak-
er ElizabethGrieder, many heirloom roses
are well-adapted to central Texas and can
be relativelymaintenance-free. These ros-
es come in all sizes and colors and often
have wonderful fragrance. Elizabeth, a
Williamson CountyMaster Gardener and
rose enthusiast, oversees the Earth-Kind
rose demonstration garden at the county
Agrilife Extension Office, 3151 SE Inner
Loop, Georgetown. Her presentation on
“Heirloom Roses” will give you plenty of
guidance and ideas for your landscape.
Membership
We invite all Sun City residents to join
the Garden Club in 2015. Our monthly
educational programs provide invaluable
tips for a thriving Sun City landscape and
our annual Garden Tour, the first week-
end in May, helps support area chari-
ties. New and renewing members can
pay their 2015 dues either at the meeting
(bring a check made out to SCTXCA) or
online on the Sun City Texas website.
