The Happiest Place on Earth

Three sisters got together
On a sunny day in June
To stroll around Disneyland
Whistling a happy tune.
Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy
Along with Tigger and Pooh
Welcomed them to come and play
Pretending they were kids, too.
Fantasyland, Frontierland,
And Adventureland were great
Tomorrowland soon beckoned
It was time to celebrate!
It’s been a wonderful summer for Sun
City Texas residents! They’ve traveled
across the U.S., had great visits from
grandkids, and have even been featured
on TV! Read about some of their adven-
tures in this summer recap.
Life after the Farm

Don and Alison Greene are new arrivals to Neighborhood
59, and are still adjusting to the Sun City Texas lifestyle.
To fully understand how challenging their move has been,
you can get a glimpse of their previous life “down on the
farm.” The Greene’s country home is featured in an episode
of
Fixer Upper
on HGTV, broadcast on Thursday nights
(visit
).
The series documents the process of home improvement
before, during, and after renovation and the buyer is not
allowed to see the completed home until “the reveal” at
the end of the show. In episode 10, the Greene home is
purchased by Rebecca and Joel Mahan, a pair of very
busy family physicians with three young children. As Don
noted in the episode, living on acreage requires a labor of
love and a considerable investment of time.
Don and Alison have found the transition to Sun City
Texas both difficult and joyful. The difficult part was the
loss of storage, previously provided by an equipment barn,
and a 1,800-square-foot shop. Essentially, the Greenes
sold or gave away most of their worldly belongings in their
move, resulting in a much simpler lifestyle. While Alison
and Don have enjoyed the recreational activities of Sun
City Texas, both agreed the greatest joy has been found
in a treasure trove of new friends.
