Roaming in the Motor
Home
Submitted by Gale Harroff, N7
My wife, Barbara, and I are on
our way to the far northeast cor-
ner of Connecticut—West Thomp-
son Lake, an Army Corps of En-
gineers campground. We have
roamed about in motor homes
since 1971. For the most part, I
have written a “self-enjoyable” di-
ary of our travels.
May 24:
We depart at 10:16 a.m.
It would have been earlier; how-
ever, someone left the screen door
of the motor home open and we
had a mis-located cat. Scooter was
finally located on the upper shelf
of the left front cabinet, hiding
behind rolls of paper towels.
May 27:
Yesterday, the odometer
read 86,246. We are one of seven
RVers in the park in Coffeeville,
Alabama. Memorial Day celebra-
tions have ended, so it is just us
older campers. So far, the main
equipment is still functioning as
intended. Both cats are enjoying
the ramble adventures—they are
allowed a dash of catnip daily and
it seems to make their eyes glassy.
May 30:
I bought some child
shampoo at Walmart in Jackson,
Alabama. I got one that smells
like grape bubble gum—this
morning, when taking my show-
er, the dab of shampoo produced
more suds then I have experienced
in 30 years. And the plus factor
is, my hair is clean and has not
fallen out. I think purple-grape is
an OK color for hair on a grandpa!
June 18:
We are at The Promised
Land State Park near Greentown,
PA. The odometer reads 87,716
miles—and still more to come!
