Expansion & Organization Communication
First, I’d like to address the question of “expansion.” As this ar-
ticle is being written in January, by now we may know
IF
there
will be an expansion. If not, with all of the speculation swirling
around, I thought it would be good to provide a brief overview of
the process that we anticipate.
IF
some type of community expansion occurs, the Developer will
likely hold a Developer-led Town Hall to explain the overall big
picture of the possible expansion. These details will probably
include the land being added, as well as the possible time frame
for the expansion. Given the time it takes to complete the plan-
ning process, there will be a significant time period to gather
resident input on the overall amenity planning. In the past, the
Developer and CA have used surveys, committee meetings and
research from other Del Webb projects in this effort. A process
similar to this was evident in our expansion back in 2005/2006
and took almost a year from initial announcement to finalization.
We can anticipate the same kind of participation and timeline.
Bottom line: if an expansion is planned, there will be ample time
for a detailed amenity and infrastructure planning process which
will include resident input.
ORGANIZATION COMMUNICATIONS
The second item I’d like to discuss is organization communica-
tions. The various Advisory Committees are the Board’s “eyes
and ears” to the community. We are all part-time volunteers and
need each other to be effective. The Resident Board is working
to improve communications with committees. This effort kicked
off with an open meeting between the Board and Committee
Chairs in December. At least we have begun the process of com-
municating what the Board is seeking out of the relationship.
Also, I believe the Committees have a better understanding
that they can request direction, feedback and clarification at
any time, schedules permitting, not just at Board Meetings or
Workshops. It’s a start.
