GPD HONOR GUARD
The mission of the Georgetown Police Depart-
ment Honor Guard is to represent the depart-
ment as a highly disciplined team serving with
dignity, honor, and professionalism at all cer-
emonial functions.
In addition, the Honor Guard serves the GPD
and the community as a visual reminder of the service and tradi-
tions of law enforcement, forever respecting and remembering
those who have come before us and those who will follow.
The current Georgetown Police Honor Guard was established in
2009. Between 2009 and 2012, members were recruited, trained
and outfitted with the uniform you see today. Every member of
the GPD Honor Guard has attended the National Honor Guard
Academy where they received specialized training in Funeral
Planning, Drill and Ceremony, Death Vigil and Casket Watch,
Casket Movement, Flag Folding, Ceremonial Firing, Color Guard,
Posting of Colors, Rifle Movements, and Proper US Flag Etiquette.

Golf Carts & Grandkids: Just Say NO!
Many grandchildren will be in our community for the spring
break holiday, and there will be a temptation to allow them to
drive a golf cart. However, it is against the law and extremely
dangerous for anyone under the age of 16 and/or anyone without a
driver’s license to drive a golf cart. Please, DO NOT let grandkids
get behind the wheel; you might be ticketed. Needless to say, it
wouldn’t make for a very fun spring break!
