The following special events are taking place in May and early June.
NATIONAL DAY OF prAYEr
Come join leaders and residents from
throughout the city for the 22nd annu-
al Georgetown National Day of Prayer.
The event will be on Thursday, May 2 at
6:30 p.m. at the Georgetown High School
Football Stadium, 2211 North Austin
Avenue. GHS Students have helped or-
ganize a Pre-Event Concert with Price
Hill from 6-6:30 p.m. Learn more and

FIESTA OF CArINg
The Caring Place will hold its signature
event, Fiesta of Caring, on Saturday, May
4 at the Schwertner Ranch Event Cen-
ter. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. It is a
fun-filled evening of fajitas, margaritas,
mariachis and a wonderful live and silent
auction. All proceeds raised at the event
are used to help our families in finan-
cial crisis. For information or to purchase

KNIgHTS OF COLuMBuS BINgO
Bingo will be offered in the Ballroom by
Knights of Columbus Council #12522 on
Sunday, May 5. Doors open at 5 p.m. and
games start at 6 p.m. All are welcome,
but please no children under 7 years old.
Cash prizes are awarded and proceeds
are used to support various charitable

BruNCH IN THE pArK
Start honoring mothers early with Cinco
de Mayo in the Park! The Georgetown
Noon Lions Club will host a brunch from
10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 5
at the Community Center in San Gabriel
Park. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4
for children under 10. Proceeds benefit
scholarships, Texas Lions Camp, early
childhood screening, and other activities
for children.
FIrST TuESDAY BENEFIT
The Friends of the Georgetown Library
will be the recipient of Fish City Grill’s
“First Tuesday Benefit” program onMay
7. The restaurant, located inWolf Ranch
shopping center in Georgetown, donates
15 percent of their entire day’s sales on
the first Tuesday of each month, as a
means of giving back to the community.
All funds raised will be used to benefit
the Georgetown Public Library.
WCCAC SCrAMBLE
TheWilliamson County Children’s Advo-
cacy Center will host a 4-man scramble
on Monday, May 13 at Avery Ranch Golf
Club. Lunch and practice at noon, shot-
gun start at 1:30 p.m. Register online

HILL COuNTrY AuTHOr SErIES
Come learn about small town life at the
Georgetown Public Library’s next Hill
Country Authors Series. The speaker is
Karen Valby, a senior writer for
Entertain-
ment Weekly

Utopia, Notes From a Small Tow
n. This
event will be held on Wednesday, May
15 at the library, located at 402 W. 8th
Street. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the
lecture will begin at 2 p.m. Tickets can
be purchased at Second-Hand Prose on
the second floor of the library or by calling
Ricki McMillian, 512-868-1860. Advance
tickets are $13; $15 at the door. Proceeds
will fund unbudgeted library needs.
SHOWINg AT THE pALACE
The Palace Theatre presents
Thoroughly
ModernMillie
fromMay 17 through June
16. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing
leading men, and a dragon-lady of a
villainess, this show is a perfectly con-
structed evening of madcap merriment.
Showtimes are Friday and Saturdays at
7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets
are $24 for general admission; $22 for
senior (55 and up); and $10 for children.
FESTIVAL OF THE ArTS
The theme for the 2013 Georgetown Fes-
tival of the arts is “A Russion Troika,”
featuring themusic of Tchaikovsky, Rach-
maninov and Anton Arensky. The festival
will host free performances, art exhibits,
film showings and more from Thursday,
May 30 through Sunday, June 2, and
concludes with a display of fireworks in

Senior University’s Summer Lecture
Series will be June 10-14 at Southwest-
ern University’s Olin Hall, Room 105.
There are two lectures daily from 9-10
a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m. A partial
listing of topics includes: “Those were
the Days,” “Revolution 4.0: Revolution
in the Real World,” “American History
According to Winston Churchill,” “Jour-
