Scattered through the rolling Hill Country and along the Blackland Prairie of Texas are 20 extraordinary churches brimming with art. While their exteriors are similar to many country churches, the interiors are decorated in an unexpected profusion of color. Murals radiate from altars, elaborate foliage trails the walls, angels adorn ceilings and wooden columns shine like polished marble. These are The Painted Churches of Texas! Built by 19th century immigrants in this rough but promising territory, these churches will transport you to a different era and way of life. Join us for a docent-guided tour of four of these remarkable churches and explore the stories of the people who built them. Bucee's in Bastrop will be our morning rest stop and the Oakridge Smokehouse is our country buffet lunch stop. Ticket includes transportation, guided tours of four churches and buffet lunch.
