Get ready for an exciting 3 days in west Texas!

Tuesday, June 5 – See miles of windmills as we travel west, and enjoy the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock.  We will stay at the Sleep Inn in Amarillo with complimentary breakfasts, indoor pool and hot tub. Restaurants in walking distance include Outback, Pizza Hut, Asian Buffet and Westgate Mall.

Wednesday June 6 - Our day begins at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens (30-45 minute tour) including a butterfly, fragrance and Japanese garden, and a tropical conservatory.  Next is the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum with interactive exhibits, artwork and a multimedia presentation telling the history of the American Quarter Horse.  We will make a quick visit to the iconic Cadillac Ranch, classic piece of road art along Route 66 with buried Cadillacs that have now been in the ground longer than they were on the roads.

On Tuesday evening we will tour Palo Duro Canyon, the nation’s second largest canyon, followed by a back stage tour, steak dinner and the musical Texas presented in the Pioneer Amphitheatre, carved out of and nestled into a natural basin.

A lone horseman, carrying the flag of the great state of Texas appears atop a 600 foot cliff, signaling the beginning of the most spectacular outdoor musical drama in the world. With a burst of fireworks and swell of music, the horseman gallops away. Suddenly, a cast of more than 60 actors, singers and dancers kick off the show that fans from all around the world have seen. Only a state as big as Texas could host a show as big as Texas!

Thursday, June 7 – Before beginning our drive home, we will visit Groom, TX, home to a 190 foot high, 2.5 million pound cross visible up to 20 miles away.  Other attractions include a replica of the Shroud of Turin, life-sized Last Supper display, 10 Commandments monument, and 14 life-sized bronze Stations of the Cross.

Ticket cost includes transportation, admission fees, 2 nights at the Sleep Inn, 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner.  Maximum tickets:  52
