San Antonio embodies the centuries-long evolution of Texas as a Spanish colony, Mexican state and independent republic. Its many heritage sites allow us a glimpse into the past as we search for stories that make up the Spanish history of Texas.  The Mission Trail, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains just such a story and encompasses four missions along the San Antonio River - San Jose, Concepcion, San Juan, and Espada.

Our first self-guided tour will be Mission San Jose, The Queen of the Missions. This mission complex includes a visitor’s center, 20 minute film and gift shop. Following this first tour enjoy lunch on your own at El Mercado, the original Mexican Market, which houses two of San Antonio's premiere Tex-Mex restaurants and a large market square of shops. After lunch it is photo opp time when we stop at the world's largest Virgin Mary Mosaic Candle. We will finish the afternoon with tours of Missions Concepcion, San Juan, and Espada. History and map will be provided for each mission.

On our way to the first tour, we will show a film, The Settlement of Texas, along with a cinnamon muffin and juice.

Ticket cost includes transportation, tours, snack, and bottled water.  Maximum tickets: 48
