Join us for a tour of Community First, a state-of-the art master planned community for former homeless people. The village, planned for 10 years, has been open for two years with 200 residents.  The 27 acres includes RV homes and small homes less than 200 square feet, surrounded by gardens, amphitheater, store, art studio and mechanic shop along with a mausoleum.  You will hear the story of one man’s vision and how he made it happen, and you will likely be speechless by the time we leave.  This 75 minute tour is all walking and standing so wear comfortable shoes.

Following Community First we will have lunch on your own with plenty of choices close to the Food Bank, our next tour.  The new Central Texas Food Bank encompasses 135,000 square feet, double the size of their old facility, and it accommodates 125 volunteers sorting and stocking.  With 15 points of entry, drivers no longer have to wait to unload supplies.  And in its new kitchen, cooks can process the 18 million pounds of ‘recovered food’ from local partners.  Both tours will educate us on the many ways organizations are making a difference in our community and changing lives.

Ticket cost includes transportation and tours.
